Hello!

Thank you for visiting The Pointe Pilates!

We follow the method originally developed by Joseph Pilates, using Gratz equipment, the Pilates apparatus designed to his own specifications.

Joseph Pilates devised his system of exercises to be performed on all apparatus of his own invention. It was never meant to be limited to the mat or reformer. At The Pointe Pilates, we work on Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Wunda Chair and more. Pilates called his method “Contrology”. Meaning, the Pilates method allows you to take total control of your body.

Each exercise we teach incorporates the six principles of Pilates: Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath, and Flow. But, we don’t just teach exercises–we change the body. At The Pointe Pilates, your private session is tailored to your individual needs. We will work on your long term goals, as well as what is needed and available to your body on that specific day. Our mission is always to build strength and increase functionality through movement. Because that’s the point of Pilates.

Is the Pilates method for me?

Pilates is for everybody. At every age, size, and level of fitness.

At The Pointe Pilates you will:

  • Learn to move your spine safely in all directions to maintain functional fitness and prevent injury

  • Build strength through the muscles that form your powerhouse (abdominals, lower back, gluteals, and inner thighs)

  • Improve body alignment and posture

  • Establish a strong mind/body connection and increase body awareness

About Me

Hi, I’m Jill Nolan. I have been practicing Pilates for 20 years and began my comprehensive teacher training three years ago. I earned my certification under the mentorship of Lisa Pellow at Touchstone Pilates, a Dark Horse Pilates (DHP) affiliate studio. My training through DHP culminated with testing and certification by Janice Dulak, Master Teacher and creator of DHP. The DHP training program follows the work and legacy of Romana Kryzanowska, a protegee of Joseph Pilates. Classically trained teachers ensure that the original work continues.

I was an attorney in my previous career where I was essentially a problem solver and learned to think on my feet. I bring this same approach to my Pilates clients as I help them find ways to experience the work in their own bodies and discover the joy of movement.

I continue to train weekly with knowledgeable teachers and attend workshops because a Pilates instructor should always remain a student.

My Pledge To You

You may not remember each exercise I teach, each cue I say, or each correction I give. But, you will always remember how I made you feel. I will always make you feel welcome, seen, valued, and powerful.
